Dish from the past: Great Grandma Fegert’s Cornbread

Baked Cornbread cupcakes

While sharpening my culinary skills in an effort to do more cooking, I recently had the opportunity to explore some old boxes of recipe cards and family heirloom recipes. I’ve always loved the idea of dusting off the strained cards that have been passed down generations and trying my hand at creating the masterpieces.

I’ve always been a sucker for good cornbread. So, when I found Great Grandma Fegert’s recipe, I just had to give it a whirl! This cornbread recipe was almost too easy to make! While baking it, I thought to myself I had to be doing something wrong because it was so simple. Once it was complete, the warm bread was perfect with some layered butter and raw honey. It served about 12 medium-sized pieces that were enjoyed by those I love. I would 100% recommend this side snack for anyone who wants something warm and fast to make for themselves and their families.
