As temperatures continue to rise and students enjoy the last weeks of summer break, the Indianapolis Zoo is a perfect day trip to help complete your summer bucket list. The Indianapolis Zoo is a nonprofit organization that has been in White River Park since 1988. The 64-acre Zoo is home to more than 1,200 animals of approximately 230 species. For all the botanists out there, the Zoo also includes 47,000 plant specimens that are available for viewing year-round. The Indianapolis Zoo is the nation’s largest privately-funded zoo. Its overall mission is to empower people and communities to advance animal conservation on a local and global spectrum. Not only is the Zoo a great place to check out your favorite furry or not so furry friends, but it is also a perfect opportunity to enjoy an activity outside in the fresh air.

We have been proud partners with the Indianapolis Zoo for more than 15 years. The Indianapolis Zoo has created unforgettable memories for our own employees, agents and clients throughout the years, and we continue to look forward to working with them each year through many volunteer opportunities, field trips and events. We are proud to sponsor the Zoo map that is given to visitors upon arrival. The map has changed throughout the years, but the relationship between our two organizations has not.
Being able to support and partner with an organization that creates joy and promotes advancing animal conservation is rewarding in so many ways. Our company has also participated in volunteer events, including one in which our employees made educational toys for the animals, helped make signs and prepared for big events the Zoo was hosting. We also give our employees the opportunity to chaperone kindergarteners from SENSE Charter School on a field trip to the Zoo once a year. This opportunity is loved by many and gives employees the chance to enjoy the Zoo while sharing it with children in our community.
What’s new at the Indianapolis Zoo
The Indianapolis Zoo is home to animals from many different habitats and countries. There are creatures from the desert, plains, forests and ocean at the Zoo, and they are all awaiting your arrival.
New to the Zoo this year are red kangaroos which are abundant in Australia. The new exhibit, Kangaroo Crossing, opened in June. Visitors can walk through large open areas with no barriers or fencing and meet the kangaroos. And, if you are lucky enough to be approached by a kangaroo, you can pet it!
Did you know that a kangaroo is a marsupial? This means they are mammals that carry their young in pouches. Pretty neat!
Now is the time to start planning a trip to the Indianapolis Zoo today! The Zoo’s hours are 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday-Thursday, 9 a.m.-7 p.m. Friday-Sunday and holidays. You may be wondering how much the tickets to the Indianapolis Zoo are? The answer is it varies depending on when and where you buy your tickets. You can save up to 50% on select days if you buy your tickets online. You can also purchase a membership for year-round Zoo fun. Tickets are available at the gate or online. Ticket prices vary based on days of week and whether or not you purchase the tickets online or at the gate. Below is a range of zoo ticket prices:
